The puppy should be in his crate when he is home alone. However, it is really rather cruel to get a new puppy, then have him home a lone for 8 or 9 hrs a day. Is there a family member or close frien who could keep the puppy at least a few hrs a day, or go over and check on him and play with him for a while during the day. also, you could talk to your vet for good ideas of how to handle this type of situation.

well i have a dog too, but my mom stays home with my younger sister so she is ok. but if i were you i would buy a lot of those puppy pee pads and put them in a bathroom and close the door, leave her some water and food and even a toy so she can "survive". or you can get like a baby play pin and put her in there with puppy pee pads and water and food and a toy(chew toy is good so she won't eat the bowl you giver her the food in), oh...and a blanket so she can curl up and go to sleep and stay warm. DON'T put her away in a cage all day because she will poop/pee in the cage and she will hate you for that. and also a dog that stits, stands, lies down in, eats it's urine and poop can get really sick. hope that helped you...good luck!
PS: be ready for a dof food/water mess too, i would put a pee pad or towel under that!

I'm assuming its a young puppy i think you should leave him in a closed off area like maybe with the fences they use for baby's? Use an area with tile but still put newspaper on the floor and maybe a couple of OLD towels in the corner for a soft bed. ;)

yep keep her in a crate ...make sure its big enough though ...they sell cages like this http://www.ukdogcrate.co.uk/crates-with-beds-centre.jpg it should be enough for a puppy. put water in the cages and lay down news paper encase it pees and poops. Also a toy wouldnt hurt.
Ps trust me you don't want a puppy running around the house it will chew dig everything pee poop

most vets and pet stores would have you buy a crate to put the dog in. It is used as a training device. If you have somebody who might be able to come visit, that would be best. but not mandatory.
talk to your vet about it. or maybe a dog trainer.

leave him at a pet sitter, or get someone to puppy-sit for u. or u can fence of a certain area of ur house with a sheltered place for him to lie down. leave water and food for him and maybe a toy for him to pass the time... he should be fine. congrats on your new puppy! =)

ask a cousin or aunt or uncle or close friend or grandparent to babysit
or i'll watch it for u! lol
but if u cant do that just keep it in its cage with tons of food and water. and a toy.
try to be home as soon as possible and give it lots of love.
good luck!

don't leave him in the cage, he won't like it at all :(
if you can't get a friend or relative to watch him, try to confine him to one room with baby gates or something to block the doorways. spread some newspaper on the floor in case he goes to the bathroom, and leave him some food, water, and toys.

you should think about it before you decided to get him.
Sorry but i dont think you should get a dog if you dont have time.
Out of 10 hours, your puppy will probably poo and pee about 5 or 6 times in that time period.
