To be honest, none of the "online universities" are very good, and employers, if they care about a college degree at all, do not take them very seriously. However, there are many traditional universities these days where you can get a degree online. I would recommend one of those, particularly those which have a strong reputation for their conventional classes, as better by far (and usually cheaper, too!).

Yes, I would recommend enrolling at a traditional university but then taking your classes online. That way, your diploma would simply note that you graduated from "The University of _____" or "________ College." For example, I attend the University at Albany, and there are always a selection of courses availible to take online. You would be taught by the same real professors that teach actual in person university courses. If you do that, you can't go wrong! Your employer will never have to know that you took your classes online! Look for a good local state college or university and see what you can do ;)

I'm not sure. Most people that you talk to will laugh or shrug their shoulders at the fact that you are going to an online college. Employers might not even give you a reason they did not hire you. I commend your Bachelors Degree at a real land based campus but goingto college online is something that I won't do unless I have no other choice.

If your looking for an online degree with reputation, you should look at Penn State University. I'm not the biggest fan of the school (mainly because I hate all things not UofI) but academically they have a superb reputation. Of course, you would have to look at what they have to offer, but the actual degree you earn is no different from what you would get as a traditional student. Outside of that look for programs that are attached to universities that YOU have heard of. Chances are if you've heard of them than you'll be ok. Good luck, and but the GI bill to good use my friend!!

WHether an employer will take you seriously or not is directly related to your field, but a degree is a degree. I have seen alot of ads for University of pheonix, but I have a close family member currently getting a doctoral degree from Walden University (Online). Onlive degrees will definitely help, as many times a degree is the only thing seperating you from a pay raise.

I too attend Walden University and I have NOTHING bad to say. I'm pursuing a masters degree in Public Health and EVERY time I have called my advisor she was called me back within 24hrs. My professors are great and are classes are taught by a number of professors from Ivy League Universities and international universities. I love the layout of the school, and it works for me. I work 2 jobs and I tried going to a traditional school straight out of undergrad. It did not work for me and until I talked to my enrollment advisor I never considered online education. Now there are a lot of "fake" universities and you have to be careful, but the gentleman that said you are better off getting a tatoo isn't of great reference. I personally know 2 people who received their masters from Walden and they work for the FDA. All in all, I have nothing bad to say about the university and it costed just as much as an in state would've costed me...but....they gave me a scholarship and offer many others quite often.

Look into non-for profit universities--meaning the regular 4 year colleges--that have online programs. They do exist!

My dad got one from a REAL university, Old Dominion University. I know this is a real university because I grew up in the city where the college is located, so it is in fact a reputable institution. Look around for more schools like that.

This is a trick question -- because there are no good online universities. Most are For Profit corporations that cost more than respectible public universities.

Employers do not take these degrees seriously. In my opinion, you would be better off getting a tattoo on your forehead that says "I have a bad education." It would be cheaper and just as effective.
