Why is niceness unappreciated and we always have to mean to get what we want? Why is the world dog-eat-dog and we dont bother being nice anymore? Why war and not peace?

They don't. But there is such a thing as "too nice" and these are the people who are stepped on and used and abused by people who don't give a crap. When you are bending over backwards and sacrificing to be nice, that's "too nice." When you are being nice at the expense of yourself, your own work, your own time, your own duties, your own rights, your own recognition, your own deserved rewards, that's "too damn nice."
People will use whatever is available to them. People who are "too nice" send out the message that they are available to be taken advantage of and there are always people out there who do just that. If you are not going to take responsibility for yourself, in a world where otheres are willing to take you for whatever ride you are allowing, then my friend, you are in for a helluva ride.
Wisdom looks at the world for what it is and makes adjustments accordingly, and is selective in its kindnesses and niceties, or else it will surely suffer the starry eyed consequences of the naive in a world of wolves viewing you as nothing more than food.

no i don't believe nice guy finish last i think that they are not in the right place & don't have nice good positive people around them ,if you talk about a dog eat dog world then i definitely think that they are not with good positive people and would say to anyone who is this discontent get out of your comport zone and go out and get a life where your doing positive things for yourself so your already in a better head space, there that saying sleep with dogs and you will get fleas meaning being around negative people where its dog eat dog then you are going to have a **** head space and a **** attitude.Yea it would be nice if all was peace full and it can be for you or me or anyone Else but you have to want it then take the steps to gain it

well nice guys can be pushed to the back of the line ,
fighting to get what you want is the way to go (im gonna be nice to get what i want ,....only works on christmas :P)
and if you dont get the job done whatever the "job" is some one will take yours
being nice gets you.... let see ronald mcdonald....santa ... a priest......ok ill get back with you on that one
without war and peace .......... wed be pretty overpopulated :P

They finish last because they're too nice to get in front of someone else and they're always letting someone get in front of them.
Niceness is "passe" and not respected anymore. It's a shame.

i wonder that myself sometimes.No more mr nice guy here when it comes to my kids tho,im sick of them getting a raw deal.Bullys at school that hit on other kids is out of control,its not just my boys,these bullys are a group in primary school random beating lil kids.it would be easier to be nicer,but its never going to be like that. cheers always :)

i feel the same. People have told me that im too nice, but i think it pays off, cause no one hates me, so i dont have any enemies
