I got the book for my first Christmas in 1959. My Grandparents gave it to me. I still have it and it is in perfect condition, as I have taken very good care of it due to the fact that I absolutely love the story. I read it to my son when he was little but I don't think he appreciated it as much as a girl would have. Hope I have a granddaughter to read it to some day.

I remember that story, but I hadn't thought about it in a long time. It was sad, yet sweet too, that she got to go be with her grandmother.

Yes, It was a real tear jerker. If you want to see a good movie , you should see A Little Princess if you haven't already . I watched it last year with my grandaughter and before that we read the book together. It's a really good movie!

My daughter has a copy of that book and it has beautiful illustrations. I came across it the other day and had to read it again. It always brings a tear to my eyes.
