Why do people have the tendency to be insatiable, always yearning for more and better things when there is wisdom and serenity in being able to take pleasure and joy in what we are already doing rather than speculating that we might have more or are better off in something or somewhere else?

I am happy and content with my life and what I have accomplished.

Although there is always a feeling of wanting more and achieving more.

It's just human nature, but I think the media has a big role in pushing people to want luxury items that they can't usually afford, which leads them to buy knock offs or put them into debt.

Most people have a sense that if they can't afford something they will charge it and pay it off slowly which usually doesn't happen.

But it goes both ways. People with money and people with less money will always aspire to have something more, we as humans are never satisfied with what we have. It's not a bad thing, that's why we have such great technology all of of our modern advancements. We are designed to think, move and challenge. And it's making our world more convenient.

My life is just starting and there are so many things that I have yet to learn. Well, for me, sometimes some people aren't contented of the "pwede na" or "ok na ako dito". Although some might have the wisdom, some strive or dream more to add more meaning in their lives, or maybe for others as well. We are capable of boundless possibilities, and it's up to us if we want to make use of the opportunities ahead. Asking for more doesn't always make a person selfish or anything. It's just that some prefer to move on and continue living their lives.

Thankful for being abundantly blessed in life, yes....
Fulfilled, to a certain degree yes.... content? not quite.

I think that people are generally insatiable, we always want to reach for greater things.... whether these are the right things is one big question mark.

personally, once you get to a certain stage and have been blessed so abundantly you tell yourself, "is this it? how can I be blessed so abundantly and the next joe sitting next to me is miserable"; then you get struck by the sense of social justice.

How you need to do more with what you have and not be contented to just live life as it comes but actually make a difference.

For believers of heaven, I think the phrase from the bible that we are not made for this earth helps us understand why we can never be truly contented with things of this earth.

Cheers!

It's human nature, yearning for more while should be contented on what they have.
The more one strive hard for betterment, the less chance to enjoy the fruit of hardwork.
Life is short, isn't it?

To answer your Q, yes, am contented with my life, with my husband, we do at times have misunderstandings but then who don't?, and two beautiful kids, who never fail to give me and my husband pride and joy.

Yes, I am contented, not that I'm not human, just a firm believer of the as young as springtime saying "contentedness is the best riches"

Yes I am. To answer your follow up: Most people follow the path that they are on because it is an accepted trend in society. Like grade school, high school, college take up accounting then become an accountant. Life is not like that. Like any road, it is not a perfect straight line. So that's why many are not content. If one chooses a path that people may deem "unorthodoxed," they judge you. Nobody likes that.

Human as we are...self actualization is always hard to get...we always want/ desire for something...
Eversince all I want is to give my aged parents, siblings and nephews and nieces a good life...now that I'm almost out in the calendar..I realized that I can't do all this stuff...especially when my friend told me that maybe I aiming to be the "HERO" of my family...maybe yes...for I thought I would be fulfilled when everyone receive some help or be totally dependent from me...maybe I'm wrong...

Unless and until I see all my three children gain security in their lives, I will remain unfulfilled and a little less contented. It is my wish to see them securely placed in their jobs, in their married life and most of all, happy with what they have.

My goal is to be a rich beach bum, and I'm still working my way towards that. However, I'm quite content with my life and I can proudly say that my life has amounted to something.
