Even if the court rehears abortion and overturns Roe v. Wade, the President cannot ban abortion. As someone said above, the only way the federal government can ban abortion is to amend the US Constitution (like when the government banned alcohol). The issue is so evenly split in America that is never going to happen.

If Roe v. Wade is overturned by the Supreme Court then state and local governments can ban abortions. But not every city or state will and so you will have people traveling to more liberal states like New York and California.

The Constitution clearly states what the federal government is allowed to control. It is in Article 1, Section 8. Whatever is not spelt out in that article is up to the states. Again, NO PRESIDENT OR EVEN THE CONGRESS CAN BAN ABORTION!

I have said this a hundred times and I will continue to say it.

Abortion is NOT a political issue - it is a medical issue.

The courts and medical science have come down solid on this issue.

Those who would impose their religious-based "morality" on the majority of this country are simply spinning their wheels.

It's just this simple - if you don't agree with abortion - don't have one.

Because that battle has been fought and lost. There is no way they will ever end abortion as a means of birth control, because they initially tried to make all abortion illegal, including in cases of rape and incest.

They would have to amend the constitution to ban abortion nationwide. Amending the constitution is a difficult process, and it takes time.

They dodged the real question and passed the buck. I know many more true conservatives that are pro-choice than are pro-life.
