Tell Gran that Steph does teamwork, not slavery, and she's too old to be ordered about. Asking nicely for help goes a long way with teenagers. Always did. Presumably your mum's conveniently forgotten the grief you were capable of giving.

Maybe she likes to wash the dishes with you because it gives you guys a reason to talk about everything and anything, an excuse to talk. Maybe she doesn't feel that connection with her Gran or just doesn't feel like helping her for whatever reason. Ask your daughter why she doesn't, but don't force her too. Talk to her Gran and tell her that she's a good girl and she does help with chores, she isn't being forced into anymore.

Do you mean that she won't open up to her Gran, or she won't do dishes with Gran?
If you mean she won't open up to Gran while doing dishes, then Gran can suck it up. Oh well.
If you mean she won't help with dishes with Gran, tell your daughter to help out when her Gran asks her to.

I don't think she's sucking up to you, she probably just likes spending one-on-one time with you. tell her Gran to find her own way to connect with your daughter.

She isn't sucking up to you. Her gran is just mad because she won't do that. It is weird talking to your grandmother sometimes. Not as weird with her mother though.

I'm the opposite, I'd help both grannies in a heart beat but would be slower to help out at home! I'm very close to all my family (both mum and dad's sides) and have alot of respect for my elder relations (grandparents and uncles etc.).

Well..... Your her mom for goodness sake! Of coarse she's going to help you more. But she should also help her.

Stop asking barely legible questions. Reword them all and start again.
