She has done this maybe 3 or 4 times and sometimes she sounds like she's scared, but now I'm worried it could be something else. It's not every night though. We cosleep and she's breastfed. Do babies this age have nightmares, and what could cause them? Or could she be hurting somewhere?

She's probably dreaming. They're pretty active little sleepers at this age. My daughter whined sometimes in her sleep, and often giggled.

Babies are active sleepers and spend more time in REM sleep than adults. She's just dreaming. My favorite is the sleeping smiles and laughs. Don't worry about it, it only sounds weird because you are awake to hear it. Imagine the sounds you might make while you are asleep......

Normal. She's just dreaming. Don't worry about it.
