The quick answer to this is to look at things that you can do that do not involve what I would call remodeling. This would include painting and cleaning to present the house at it finest. These are things that the average non-construction person can do for their home.

If your floors are in bad shape, you could consider doing a decorative cement/concrete slab floor. This is a current design trend that many home owners are doing since it can be done so cheaply. Concrete is much cheaper than hardwoods or tile and can look great. There are a lot of resources on the internet that explain how to do this. A big push for this technique as well is the commonality of allergies in people these days.

The other thing that can be done reasonably cheaply is landscaping if you are willing to do the work yourself. A pretty yard goes a long way towards making a house more marketable.

Well it depends on what shape your house is in. The cheapest "upgrades" for the least amount of money usually involve de-cluttering (to improve the use of space) and painting rooms (to improve the look and feel of space). Check out some of the how-to shows such as "Sell This House" on A&E or some of the HGTV series on home improvement.

Paint for one, get rid of all the clutter, open the windows with better window covering. Also if it is possible and I'm not sure what you have on your floors is it carpet or tile or hardwood. If it's hardwood you can just refinish it. That would spruce the home up a great deal. Good luck

PAINT is by far the cheapest way to put a completely different spin on something. try warn neutral colors and crisp white trim, doors, wood work, etc. i just gave my foyer a fresh coat of benjamin moore 'golden chenille'. NO its not gold, it is a color that looks like warm toasted bread. i did the trim in 'buttered almond' to go with the floor which is a natural looking porcelain ceramic. (the contrast to all this tan coloring is a dark wooden sideboard with a huge stained glass lamp)

It depends on how much you want to improve your home and the purpose for which you want to improve your home.

A fresh coat of paint, new cabinet hardware, bathroom and kitchen fixtures, new cieling mounted lights. All can be done fairly cheap, especially if you do them yourself.

If you aren't afraid to do a little work yourself, you can even find nice laminate wood floors rather cheap and install them yourself.

God Bless you and your dad! What a wonderful person you are ... and yes, by all means you can homeschool. Make sure you check on the Homeschool laws for your state, but you should be just fine. Public schools may give you a hard time, but you do what you need. Your dad is more important!

Move the broken down, taken apart car that's in your driveway to Simm's metal for recycling.

Your curb appeal will go up ten fold.
