8+5 =13 =(1+3)=4
5+4 =9
4+9 =9
9+9=18 =9

so the sequence can be
8,5,4,9,9,9

just because its an english teacher it doesnt mean that he/she does not know math. I would guess

well eight is 5 letters and all the others are four. so i would have to say ten, two, six, or one.
