I wouldn't advise buying the wood off craigslist.com. 90% of the time it's pine which causes a creosote buildup that can lead to chimney fires. If you're just looking to buy a little bit of wood then go with the "Pine Mountain" logs they sell at Lowes, Safeway, Fred Meyer and other stores. They work great, burn clean and heat way better than cheap woods like pine.

If you're looking to stock up with a pile of wood for the winter do a search in your area online for firewood dealers. I found this cool site that tells you which woods are best - http://www.aie.org.uk/aie_data/aie_firewood.html

If you need a lot, check craigslist. They often have wood for sale.
