The law is not of faith: Galatians 3. So...
begin 'faith --> hope --> charity' with grace;
unless you want your hope to be hopeless.
Grace faith makes our hope to be hopeful.

I guess it depends on where you live and the country you maintain citizenship in.
In a republic such as the United States, I do not believe courage is the essential necessity of citizenship, I believe it is unbiased reliable information. Only with an informed citizenry can a Republic truly function as it should.
If the citizenship is informed they will make correct decisions about who to elect as the leaders. When the citizenship is informed, the constitution will NOT be violated because the citizens will demand better, when the citizenship is informed, there is no need to exhibit courage to demand redress of the leadership, there will be safety in numbers......

as it stands, courage is necessary in the current Republic of the United States, because it is quickly becoming a fascist state and anyone who openly disagrees with the leadership is labeled a traiter, after all, "you are either with us or against us". In the near future, open disagreement may be met with imprisonment. As for the rest of your questions:

atomic bomb----probably speak softly and carry a big stick or bomb

Same defense we had with the cold war, mutual destruction will be assured

NO information is essential

Possibly

I find hope in rational thought, information and knowledge

basically, you need courage to live your day-by-day life.

You may read the novel "War & Peace" but war is the way to peace. Otherwise, all are corrupted.

Hope is in the reasons of why you live and what nation you are living for.

Nuke is not the only weapons. In fact, more people were gun down than killed by nuke.
