The last time someone black walked up to you and said "you are the reason for slavery".

Hasn't happened to me yet.

I don't think that has every happened. Really, America is the only country that seems to have such a problem with this portion of our history. I know it can sound insensitive, but its time to move on. Every culture has had slaves at some point, and often times it would be the people of a different race or culture. Yet none of these other countries or cultures pander to slavery like America does. Hell, Germany tried to commit genocide of an entire race and did far worse things to Jews than what happened to slaves. Yet, even though it is still talked about in history classes, movies are still made about it, etc...that is the extent of it, and Jewish people live successfully and without hindrance in Germany today. Yet many American black people still, to this day, externalizes all their problems to slavery.
Yes, it was horrible. Yes, it was wrong. Yes, it sucks that it happened, but its time to put it behind you and move on.

Actually, this has happened to me before [but not in the exact words quoted by you]. I experienced this quite a bit as a teenager. [But I just chalk it up to teenagers being typical ''pick-a-fight'' teenagers.] And it has happened to me on a few occasions throughout my adult years. For example, a couple of years ago, a black woman approached me as I passed by her house [while taking a walk] and said, "Why can't you leave black men alone? Didn't you eff us over enough with your slave system?"

Of course, I'm sensible enough to know that not all black people think or say such things- probably not even most.

I think it's preposterous that people are claiming that what you've asked absolutely has not (and will not) happen. Often times, when we hear or read a claim being made about black people, along come those who make a point to say, "Not all black people think alike." And I completely agree. But it works both ways. The fact that not all black people think alike applies to both the positive AND the negative. Both good AND bad are among all people. Just as there are ignorant white people who go on fishing expeditions to find absolutely any reason to blame black people for one thing or another, there are ignorant black people who do the very same thing.

Personally, I believe that those ignorant folks are only a small minority on both "sides"- that most of us are endowed with enough common sense to recognize and acknowledge the basic fact there isn't a single group of people on this planet who consist of carbon copies of one another.

Most black people I know aren't blaming people for slavery, they're fighting against the legacy it has left in this country.

That is because it doesn't happen ...here is something more likely to happen.....white person goes "hey where are your ancestors from" black person goes " I really don't know because of slavery and all" ... white person goes "OMFG will you black people stop blaming slavery on those of us living today... we had nothing to do with it! Can't you just get over it!" LMAO anyway that is how I see it play out on YA

Zigbart, you are right there is a unequal playing field, but African Americans need to understand to even get on that playing field you need a education. Please any body reading this do not take it lightly, in order for us to make it you must stay in school and learn how to play the game the way it is played because if you dont you will get left behind.

Actually it's kinda funny but this kid randomly came running up to us and said " And then they say how did slavery happen... I'll tell them it because of people like you" hahaha the thing is it was randomly in the middle of nowhere! To a group of people where there were also black people lol

i dont think its that direct, really. but i think theres a harbored resentment in a lot of black people, which is pretty understandable.

their ancestors were forced to be slaves and then denyed equal rights for decades. even today, things arent as equal as they ought to be for many black people. It isnt one white persons fault, but the fault of a society created by whites generations ago.
