The three types of rocks are all interconnected.

Igneous rocks can erode and break down and become sedimentary rocks. They can be subjected to heat and pressure and become metamorphic rocks. The can remelt and reform as igneous rocks again.

Sedimentary rocks can be melted back and form into igneous rocks. They can be subjected to heat and pressure and become metamorphic rocks. They can be broken down further into more sedimentary rocks.

Metamorphic rocks can be melted back and become igneous rocks. They can be weathered and broken down and from sedimentary rocks. They can subjected to heat and pressure to make higher grade of metamorphic rocks.

So each of the 3 types of rocks can become one of the other 2 types of rocks with the right conditions and the right amount of time.
