planning a quick trip. the package I'm getting offers transportation between airport and hotel for $12/person, but I hear you have to wait until the shuttle is full before they leave, that the shuttles aren't really on a schedule and that it's preferable to take a cab. Is it worth the while to take a cab to the Imperial?

Cost is about 20 bucks plus tip. You will wait about an hour in line to get a cab. Make sure you tell the driver you want the quickest way and don't take the tunnel. Do not take the scenic route either. If you take the shuttle there will be people that go to other hotels and you may have to ride to those and yours may be the last stop. Either way .. no fast way.

Try this Link for the Taxi Cab Authority" website for estimates from the AP.

If your have 2-3 traveling grab the cab. I sometimes take the shuttle from the AP to the hotel. Always take a cab from hotel to the AP. One time I purchased a round trip shuttle ticket and they were a45 minutes late. Waiting outside in 105 degree heat is no pleasure. You also have to plan on a pick to the AP 3- 3 1/2 hours prior to the flight because after you get picked up they sometimes stop at 1-4 other places before heading to the AP. :o(

One trip while waiting for luggage, our party of 3 found another couple going to the Paris. We split the cost of a limo. Was a little more then a cab but we sure enjoyed pulling in to Paris riding in a limo. Besides the taxi line had at least 200+ people waiting in line.

We just came back from Las Vegas this past weekend but we've travelled to Vegas about twice a year. Depending on when you land and if there is a big event (like a major convention), waiting for a cab can be a few seconds (this last trip took less than 15 seconds to get our cab, no waiting when we arrived) to 20-30 minutes (earlier this year durint the Consumer Electronics Show took about 20 minutes).

Imperial is an older Hotel/Casino but it's close to alot of the main attractions including Caesars Palace/Forum Shopping, Fashion Mall, etc. The monorail has a stop there that's shared with Harrahs.

Good Luck and have fun.

Don't know where the imperial is exactly, but most cab rides in Vegas cost around $10. The airport is at one end of the strip, the MGM, Excaliber, Luxor and some others are basically right outside the airport.
