the answer is e..

first get a lowest common denominator for the first equation
and change the fractions

32/32+16/32+8/32+4/32+2/32+1/32
then add
=63/32
plug into the second equation
63/32(1/2)+1=63/64+1=63/64+64/64=127/64

so take the first answer and get the lowest commone denominator which would be 64
=126/64 and the second is 127/64

so subtract then you get 1/64

hopei explained it to where you inderstand

If s = 1 + 1/2 + 1/4 + 1/8 + 1/16 + 1/32 and t = 1 + 1/2 s, then t exceeds s by:

s = 1 + 31/32 = 63/32
t = 1 + 1/2(63/32) = 1 + 63/64
t - s = (1 + 63/64) - (1 + 62/64) = 1/64

s = 1 + 1/2 + 1/4 +1/8 + 1/16 + 1/32
=32/32 + 16/32 + 8/32 + 2/32 + 1/32
= 63/32
= 126/32

t = 1 + (1/2)s
= 1 + (1/2)(63/32)
= (64/64) + (63/64)
= 127 / 64

So t exceeds s by
t - s
(127/64) - (126/64)
= 1/64

One way to work this problem is to find the common denominator, however I find it easiest to work in decimals ... so

S = 1 + .5 + .25 + .125 + .0625 + .03125 = 1.96875
T = 1+ (.5 * 1.96875) = 1.984375

1.984375 - 1.96875 = .015625 = 1/64

Correct!
Here's Why:

“t exceeds s” is interpreted mathematically as the value of t – s and is evaluated as follows:

t – s = – s

if it says t exceeds s it means t minus s... do the math then.
