lol sarah! Maybe it was just a fluke for this one girl, but what I'm Really hoping is that it's signaling a shift in tastes....finally.
Another sign would be a noticable dip in Idol's ratings.. We'll see & pray. :)

My sentiments are right along the lines of Dani's. I honestly think it's great. I think it goes to show that just because something works good on TV doesn't mean it will sell albums. There's only really been 2 of the idols that made much of a career, that Kelly, and the country music blonde with the nice rack. (I don't watch the show so I don't really know their names.) It seems people got enough manufactured groups and stuff during the late ninety's, and now everybody is ready to move on. None of the music along those lines are doing very well right now. Those ones that won or almost won that were from Alabama, they don't even sell in their home state. We are such a use once and destroy society.

Oh, I think it's cause for optimism for sure. We might need a few more of these. Something like 3 of the next 4 winners to bomb on a debut album will definitely suck the wind out of the embarrassment known as American Idol. Best news I've had so far today.

Count yourselves lucky that in America there's only one of those shows. Coming from Ireland i have to endure three of them. American Idol, Simon Cowells other 'talent' show "The X Factor", and also an Irish version called "You're A Star". Although 'You're A Star' isn't associated with Cowell so it's not as bad and there's actually bands on it, there's still a lot of crap on it

The only way to kill American Idol is to watch the show, identify the "worst" performer, and start a major massive campaign for that candidate...a massive campaign. He/she should be pushed into the top 2.

Pop Idol
The X Factor
Fame Academy
Britain's Got Talent
The majority of people on these can't sing, and the few who can get voted out because the viewers don't fancy them!
nb: Of all of these, I watched the first series of Fame Academy. After that, I vowed never to watch *any* of them.

This is a sign that they should stop torturing us and just stop that show. It produces nothing worth while.

yeah....i hate american idol and everything it creates....i kinda feel bad for her but what did she expect by getting involved with just a monster of a concept.....it is ridiculous......
