Calculate (y^2 + 2y - 35) divided by (y+7) in two ways:?

I worked it out as a long division problem....getting y - 5 for the answer, pretty basic, but how do I do it a second way? In fraction form?? How? Help!!

(y + 7)

The (y +7)s cancel, leaving with y-5.

....then simplify...
