Living in a house full of women (1 wife, 3 daughters) I constantly find my self reminding them to put the seat away (up) when they are finished with it!
In fact, I'm the only one who doesn't leave it down,
I always put it away!

Well, considering the things that go into a toilet, and the fact that there's a lid, i presume it should be left down for aesthetic and hygienic purposes. So I will have to say, that men are the culprit here.

I have no problem when a guy leaves the seat up. I grew up with three brothers and learned to always check before I sat down. My biggest complaint is when a guy is too lazy, DOESN'T lift the seat and gets it wet. Ew.

the toilet was meant to have a seat, for those of us who don't have the liberty of just "whipping it out" when we feel the urge, and for other occasions mutual to both the sexes, so i'm going to say that men leave it up (i'd rather that than you people peeing all over it, so whatever)

Men usually leave it up, and women leave it down.
I've never understood why women think it should ALWAYS be left down, just for them. That doesn't make any more sense than men insisting that it should ALWAYS be left up, for them.
