Hey there!

y=(x+4)/3

Here's why:

x-3y=-4 --> Write the problem.
-3y=-x-4 --> Subtract x on both sides of the equation.
3y=x+4 --> Divide -1 on both sides of the equation.
y=(x+4)/3 Divide 3 on both sides of the equation.

So the answer is y=(x+4)/3 or y=x/3+4/3.

Hope it helps!

x-3y=-4
3y=x+4
y=(1/3)*x+4/3 is the slope intercept form because it is of the form y=mx+c where m=1/3; c=4/3.

y=x/3 + 4/3

this means to get y by itself so you have y = mx + b

x - 3y = -4 subtract over the x

-3y = -x - 4

divide by -3

y = 1/3 x + 4/3

2007-11-28 12:07:40 · answer #4 · answered by Linda K 5 · 0 0

generic slope intercept form is y=mx+b

x-3y=-4

subtract x from both sides:
-3y=-4-x

divide each side by -3

y=(x/3)+(4/3)

Subtract x from both sides:
-3y = -x - 4

Divide both sides by -3:
y = (1/3)x + (4/3)
