I am 36 weeks pregnant and today at the doctor, he said that the baby's head dropped lower and that I am dilated to 1! I think he is going to admit me to the hospital in the morning....are there any ways for me to speed up the labor process? I am starting to have contractions..should I call my doctor? and I find it strange that my doctor didn't admit me to the hospital earlier today?! I am a nervous wreck, this is my first baby so please bear with me & my questions. I wanted to wait a whole 38 weeks before I had this baby =[

You could go to 40 weeks, darlin. I was 4 cm for an ENTIRE month with my second child.

Chill out and enjoy those last few days/hours/weeks of pregnancy, no matter how long it ends up being!

Being dilated to 1 is normal. You can stay that way for weeks. Did your doctor actually tell you he was going to admit you or you think he is. Are your contractions regular and getting closer and closer together. If they become 5 minutes apart for over an hour, then you call your doctor and tell him and he'll let you know if you need to go the hospital or not. Relax, this is all normal.

Being 1 cm dilated doesn't mean you'll have a baby any time soon. I can't imagine your doctor would admit you to the hospital unless you were in active labor. Everyone has a few contractions, but unless they are very strong and regular you don't need to call your doctor. It doesn't sound like you are in labor at all to me.

darling just relax!!!!
you could give birth in the next couple of hours or in the next week, thats why your doc didnt admit you.
just relax and time your contractions.
call your doc if you are really concerned or just go to the er and see what they say.
good luck and congrats!!!!
i wish you and your new family all the best!!!
