I have a problem with acting myself infront of poeple im not really comfortable with, thats thats a very low number of poeple. When i force myself to say something in their presence, it just comes out as meaningless phrases or words that do not really contribute to the conversation. Overall, they come out as words that would not come out of the normal me. What can i do to be more confortable infront of these poeple and just act myself?

Take Shakespeare's advice. He had the character Polonius from Hamlet say to his son Leartes

"...This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man."

It means love youself, love everything about you, who you are, what you're capable of, your choices in every moment of your day. Find things that you love and do them. After a while you'll find that people love to be around you because you're more real for them than they are for themselves!

I guess the real question is why are you not comfortable around these people to begin with...Is it because of lack of confidence in yourself? Fear of judgement? Fear of getting slapped?

But to give you basic answer, the secret to "being yourself" is not giving two flying fig trees what other people think. That is very hard to do. When I was in my late teens and early 20's, it was so much easier, but now...

Anyway, to do that, and be successful in not giving two flying fig trees, you must believe in your heart of hearts, know without an inkling of doubt, that you are a pretty good guy, a smart guy, and your opinions, thoughts, and knowledge is valid despite what anyone else in the world thinks. Once you have that sort of confidence in yourself, your thoughts, and your words, it won't matter to you what other people say or think, and your natural self will come out on its own...

If you are over 21, try drinking a little. It will loosen you up a bit, and may get you out of your shell. I'm very shy around other people, so I drink a tiny bit to lower my inhibitions and calm myself down. Just don't overdo it. You don't want to look like an ***.
