I thought...Wowee, life is getting better. I'd lost the FIRST man in my life (my Dad) when I was 39 and met the LAST man in my life (my Husband) when I was 40. Life does have its compensations even though it regularly throws a curve ball.
I am just happy to be alive and appreciating it more, the older I get. Beats knocking my elbows on wood every day...
(in my coffin)
Welcome to runninon....nice to meet you :-)

The one that I really hated was when I was turning 30. I was dreading that day so bad as so many people said that I would have start acting like an adult instead of someone younger. That was my worst birthday ever. It took me several months before I decided that I was going to "act" the way I wanted to act.

I am 51 and still act the way I did when I was 20,30, and 40. I plan to stay as young as I can. My life is not just starting nor do I think omg I'm getting old.

Numerology is any belief in divine, mystical or other special relationship between a number and some coinciding events. It's an occult science that I consider fascinating. I started to study numerology because of my obsession with Mathematics, Geometry. What I discovered it's really incredibble.

I started all over at 40 & at 41, I was on top of the world until I had an injury that drastically changed my life at age 48. After healing & not being able to work in my carreer any longer, I had to admit that I was old in order to stop doing things that were putting my life at risk. Last year I realized that I was, indeed, OLD...at the age of 53. Next year I can start all over again when I'm 55!

Turning 30 was horrendous, thinking it was the end of the world and that I was getting really, really old.

Forty (and on) is a GREAT time to look back at how foolish I was and how most of the concerns that I had were unwarranted. Although it hasn't gotten easier, I've learned how to put things in perspective.

To paraphrase Mark Twain, most of the things that I worried about happening in life, never occurred.

Life after 40 is much richer, and less traumatic. The problems certainly are bigger, but it's all do-able.

When I hit 30 I thought I was too old, but then when I hit 40 I really felt old! My favorite joke was that I was still 29. Now I'm getting closer to another milestone birthday and I am proud that I'm not 29 anymore! I am learning to embrace the numbers. Age is not a number, it's a feeling.

I felt like I was the happiest I maybe had ever been. At 40, I was divorced from an abusive husband and felt so FREE.
I loved my job and I was dating a man 12 years my junior and having the time of my life. I looked younger and felt great physically. My kids were 23,22,19 and 12 and I had a close relationship with all of them. I never missed one of my youngest's football games, worked out and ran, had good friends and loved life.
Gladys, you are such a wise and beautiful lady. I appreciate you so much.

When we have those "milestone" birthdays, we tend to evaluate where we are in life. If we haven't achieved what we thought we would by that age, we feel old.

For example, when I turned 30, I felt good about it. I had achieved the goals I had set for myself regarding career, marriage, and children. But my friend told me she felt old at 30 because her goal of being married and having children had not yet been realized.

At 40, I felt a little "old" because I was trying to restart my career and I was competing with 20-somethings. But, I am back in college now, working toward my goal of getting a masters degree. I feel good because I am starting a new chapter in my life.

You will feel old only when you feel that the best part of your life has already past!

Turning 40 was great, and for the first time I really set some personal goals and achieved them. Before that, I was too busy with kids, etc., and just getting through one day at a time. 40 was a wake up call, and I'm so glad I woke up!
