Does anyone know where I could look this up? Someone was recently arrested for showing aborted fetus images on his truck, and I while I support his arrest, I'm wondering if this against the law....what about dead bodies, or mutilated genitals....so protest say, war or circumcision. I'm just trying to find out what's the law regarding these things. Does anyone know...

bushnewandlied, while you may have a problem with the President, that is not the information I am looking for. Please don't use my question as an opportunity to complain about a completely different topic.

Any type of picture can be banned from public display if it violates community standards. In this case, public display means a place where the general public cannot avoid seeing it, as opposed to a museum where you can choose to go in or not. Placing graphic or disturbing images where children WILL see them can be banned. They could also pose a threat to public safety if they are meant for other drivers to see.

I really doubt that the primary offense for which he was arrested was the display of the pictures. He was probably arrested for ignoring a court order to remove them or some other 'failure to comply' charge.

Usually any image which would be considered graphic and disturbing to most people in a population is banned from public display. Depending on the types of pictures that he had in his truck, I feel that this is probably legal. I would look up laws and cases regarding free speech rights and public displays of graphic pictures.

It's called local standards as far as obscenity goes.

Frankly, if this guy thinks he has the right to show bloody aborted fetuses on his vehicle, then he should also think I have the right to paste pictures of hard core porn on mine. Somehow, I don't think he'd agree. Religious fanatics tend to believe that you only have the same rights they agree with.
