It is Greek mythology and about a man named Odysseus who is traveling back home but runs into a lot of problems.

Beowulf. I think it's from Denmark or somewhere in northern europe. The Divine Comedy was an epic story I think, takes place in hell. Look up some Irish folklore, they usually have epic stories.
