Nope. The umbilical cord does not have any nerve endings in it, so neither mom nor baby feels it being cut.

Not as pain because there are no pain receptors in the cord. However, the sudden change of pressure bugs some babies. If you cut the cord after it stops pulsing, doesn't bother them a bit and eliminates problems of anemia because they get all their blood.

No. It is like trimming finger nails. I believe there are no nerves, only blood vessels in the cord.

No, no nerve endings as others have said. But look at it this way, whether it does or does not hurt... you can't exactly not cut it...
