depends on what age.
Daisy's-kindergarten, songs, arts and crafts ,games which promote accepting others and sharing.
Brownies:1-3rd grade lots of arts and crafts, studying other people in other countries and doing small service projects w/in the community, a little camping, cooking and short field trips to learn about the community.
Juniors, 4-6th grade More emphasis on helping in the community; hospitals, nursing homes, soldiers, handicapped etc.
Cadettes: 7-9 and Seniors: H.S totally community service involvement.Seniors also have something equal to Eagle Scouts w/ boys which is highly respected by employers..(except for those, above, who call it "gay")
All levels sell cookies to fund raise, all levels go camping,(if your troop leader likes it) and all levels emphasize teamwork and helpfulness to the group, family and community.

simple Sadie, to become more well rounded, to learn discipline, some kind of honor & respect for self and others, how important it is to pay attention & focus, how to manage your life.
The girlscouts is a instrument for you better yourself.
As for things they do?
Basically, they are being you parent away from home, however they are not, they mostly just want the best for you and from you.
Life is mostly about making yourself a better person, this is one of the things the Scout system is set up for, however, this is a good question, if you are not sure of something ask about it. peace small fry.

Having been a girl scout since 2nd grade (Im 22 now)... You do a lot of crafts, games, and skill building. I would never be who I am today without the leadership skills I learned in scouts. I had a wonderful time and made so many friends from all over the world. You can also gain a lot of experiences that will help you in the "real world" such as volunteering and earning your silver and gold awards.
