At the time, Britian was at war with France so they had to devote 90% of the armed forces to that. Both were powerhouses at the time. Big advantage for us because we only had to deal with 10% of the Brits. We also had a strong desire for independence which was a psychological advantage. We were not going to quit. It was victory or death. The war went on for 7 years all the way to 1783. Another advantage we had was our use of the minutemen. They were farmers by day and within minutes they were soldiers at night. This way they could sneak up on superior forces and win. This is what we Americans had to put up with from the Viet Cong during the Vietnam war. We should have learned from our own history on that point.
The British advantage was superior firepower, more discipline and organization. Plus they were considered the toughest fighting men in any Army. It's one of the big reasons Hitler could not overtake them during WW2. Another advantage and probably the biggest one was the fact that the Brits had a Big, strong superior Navy which was how they controlled everything. The Navy was the big weapon in those days. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Well one advantage the Americans had was distance. It was hard for the Brits to bring soldiers to fight since they were an ocean away. Another would be that the Americans knew the geography of the land better.
