For some reason, any time my mom runs her hands through her hair, I suddenly get very angry, clench my teeth, feel the urge to punch her hand away, and feel the need to get away from her.
My mom and I are on wonderful terms, so I don't know why I would be angry with her.
It is like an switch is flicked it on as soon as her hands touch her hair and my mood instantly changes.
This doesn't happen to me when anybody else runs their hands through their hair.
Why does this happen to me?

My guess would be that you're focusing your anger toward your mom on this one action. Maybe there are other things you're upset with her about, but for some reason you can't express it. I don't know how old you are, but if you're a teenager or in your early 20's, it's totally normal to feel these angry feelings toward your parents. It's part of growing up. It's possible that you're connecting this action with some prior negative experience, but you would remember what it was and would likely be aware of what it is. You say you "feel the urge to get away from her." I'd bet you're in your teens and you're getting ready to seperate from your mom. No worries. It just means you're becoming your own person.

My parents get on my nerves for a number of reasons.
Whenever they do something that is a habit of theirs, that they've done forever, i hate it.

If they do something that's more random and maybe even more annoying to the average person, i might not even notice that much. But if it's familiar, then i hate it.
I have moved out and not lived with them for 10 years and I still get super annoyed when i have to spend more than 2 hours with them.
I hate this time of year for that reason. LOL
I guess what i'm saying is that this is common, and unfortunatley, doesn't necessarily go away with time or age.

My girlfriend lets me and only me touch her hair. Maybe you just do not like people touching your hair. You feel as if they are trying to control you or harm you. Even if it is your mother. Just like I hate it when people touch my back. Everytime my dad pats me on my back it takes all I have not to punch him. I am going to tell him next time he does it. Maybe just explain to your mom that you feel angrey when she does this and ask her if she could stop.

Sweetie, did something happen to you as a child, something done to you by someone who ran their hands through their hair?

Wow. That's kind of fascinating, to be honest.

My first thought is that your brain is associating that image with something unpleasant that happened earlier in your life. I have no idea what that could be.
