I understand it was designed especially for those of us who are elderly. Supposed to be very user-friendly as well as cheap and no silly or useless stuff.

It isn't available in all areas. It is a simple cell phone with large easy to see, easy to use buttons with none of the bells and whistles. No games, no texting, no confusing menus. It is just for keeping in touch. It will make and receive calls, will connect to a live person if you have a problem and it has a simple address book. Just a basic cell phone with basic services. This is how I read the ads anyway. I'd like to talk with someone who has actually used one.

Yes, I've had one for almost a year now...got it for strictly emergency call purposes when I'm out on the road. I got a "package" deal and got the phone, the activation, had them do the pre-programming of all the numbers I'd need to call so can call one-touch from the resulting address-book on the little screen and have 30 minutes a month or 360 minutes a year to use. My future yearly subscription [now that the set-up and such are done] will be about $11.00 a month.
If all you need is an emergency call-up gadget without any games, toys, displays or "thumb-gymnastics", then this is a good phone. I loathe the 'wired-up' malarkey and am basically a Luddite...but being able to call a wrecker or 9-1-1 when I'm out on our lonesome rural roads in the dark o' night is very comforting.

No but I researched it. Then I bought a prepaid TracFone from Wal-Mart. I got a Motorola phone in the deal. It's OK. The Jitterbug is a scam. Read what one answerer posted for you. I discovered the same thing .

No. I have a simple Nokia cell phone. My wife is the one with the I-Phone. It sure can do a lot of things besides handling phone calls. But, I still think Steve Jobs and Steve Wosniak of Apple Corporation missed one feature. I still can't get it to turn on the coffee pot. LOL!

I've asked Santa for a cell phone to keep in the car for emergencies. This sounds like what I want, but of course Santa keeps saying "What could happen?"

$120 for a year, plus $35 one time set up cost and 0.35 cents per minute. I like the phone but it's a tad pricey, no?

I haven't heard of it. Is it by a carrier like Verizon or more like a Trac Fone. I would love to check it out. I like the name kinda fits our generation.
