I have. I "won" an item from someone who had 100% positive feedback from over 500 people. I paid for it via Paypal that day and never got the item. I e-mailed her about 7 times before I got a response. She e-mailed me that she was so sorry, she thought the item had shipped, her kid had been very sick and was hospitalized, blah, blah, blah. She said she was going to check on it immediately and send me out another one if necessary. Nothing ever came and I e-mailed her about 10 more times before finally getting another response a month later. This time, she claimed her house was a victim of the California wildfires and she hadn't been able to get to her computer for weeks. At that point, I told her I just wanted my money back. She claimed she refunded it via Paypal, but I never received it.

I've bought and sold on eBay for many years and this was the only problem I ever had.

I've been ripped off a few times over the years but never by a huge amount. In my opinion, there are more dodgy sellers now than there used to be. There's a lot of stuff from Hong Kong that's not the best quality although it is very cheap. Its usually British sellers that I have trouble with though, which is a shame.

If you're careful to watch the sellers and their record/percentage, you should be OK. I've heard criticisms of PayPal, but I've never had any trouble with it or with a seller.

You do have to know when a deal is too good to be true.

I even made a purchase that had a misleading description. I emailed the seller, and he said to mail it back and I'd be reimbursed! There was no hesitation at all. I've only had one other disappointment, when music books weren't what I expected; but, I haven't had my faith in ebay tested at all.

Hmmmm... Is is Ebay or ebay? Net rules are so odd when it comes to punctuation and lower case/caps.

Yes! >: I
My mom's account got hacked into. And to make the story shorter... they changed her mailing address. So when my mom bought stuff the sellers sent it to the wrong address and then my mom contacted the other seller about it because the item came back to one of the sellers and anyways the other seller is being a b*%#$ about it because she claims the item never came back to her because it was sent to NY and my mom had already told her 3 times that that isn't and never was our address and my mom has explain this to this lady in like 6 or more e-mails and the lady also claims she has only received 2 e-mails from my mom and that my mom is lying and stuff so my mom gave her a negative feedback for not communicating very well with her...and I guess pretty much lying and just taking our money. And the lady being vindictive gave my mom negative feedback too! Oh and another incident .....paypal let hackers into my mom’s account and they almost purchased a car at one time!!

You are really getting the Bad vibes....of course the question relates to the people who have been "ripped off".
I believe that thousands of e.Bayer's have had good results, which would out way the bad.....tenfold.
However feel sorry for the "ripped off"

No, but a friend of mine got screwed when a con artist bought a Rolex off him but never sent the cheque after insisting it was posted in time for her husbands birthday, He wanted to use paypal but he fell for it and duly lost close to £2000. Ebay were not interested.

Not me, but a friend has. He related that there are (and in case he ran into one) pro companies that send (can you believe it?) REGISTERED checks that bounce! So, even though you deposit the check, and send the goods you think you've sold, your bank comes after you for the amount of the bounced check. What a drag! (Solution? The seller has to wait to deliver until, in the neighborhood of, about two weeks until after a check clears...much to the chagrin of an honest buyer!)
