How often does it snow down in Dallas?- Rarely. Rain? -Occasionally. Texas Stadium was built before the age of domes and whatnot. Currently the Cowboys are building a huge mega complex complete with a dome, restaurants, meeting rooms, etc. Supposed to open in the year 2010. Won't be long, and the issue of a hole in Texas Stadium won't be an issue anyway.

It was built that way to mimic many European soccer venues. The hole in the dome allows the stands and the fans to be protected from bad weather but doesn't eliminate the elements from the actual game.
JohnH, Texas Stadium was built in 1971, 6 years after the Houston Astrodome, well into the "age of domes".
