They are effective ******IF******** they are used correctly. Missed pills, taking antibiotics, etc. can all lessen the effectiveness of the pill. My advice is to use condoms unless you want to be a daddy.

It depends. If she is not too good about taking her pill THE SAME TIME everyday, the chances are actually pretty good of pregnancy. That is rule number one when taking birth control pills. Doctors suggest that women get a wrist watch with an alarm and set it for whatever time they want to have be the pill time and take it as soon as the alarm goes off. If she skips pills, the chances are even higher.
Provided she takes the pills as prescribed, the pill is 99% effective.

The chance you will get pregnant on the pill without a condom is around 16%.
YOU NEED TO USE A CONDOM EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!!! Even if she IS on the pill!
Besides, you have no excuse not to wear one, they don't actually make any difference during sex, plus it is nicer for the girl because when it's over she doesn't have to clean all your semen out of her vagina.
EDIT: OH BY THE WAY, THE PILL IS NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT 99% EFFECTIVE, A CONDOM IS. THE PILL IS ONLY 86% EFFECTIVE, IF USED CORRECTLY!!!!!

The chance of her getting pregnant is very slim. Birth control works wonders. But it all depends on the women because not ALL women are the same. Id be careful though just incase.

Nothing is 100% safe. If you want to be absolutley certain, then use a condom as well as bc. If that isn't safe enough for you then don't do anything. There is always a chance that she could get pregnant! Even on BC with out missing anything. Good Luck!

Your chances are slim but remember there is always a chance because birth control pills aren't absolute. I conceived my oldest son while I was on the pill because I wasn't on a high enough dose for my body so pregnancy can still occur.

hi, well u r leaving yourself wide open for aids & any other sexual transmitted diseases. so u should try using a condom anyway. the birth control pill is 99% safe but it doesn't keep u safe from disease. so don't be stupid. you don't know where or who she has been with & hopefully she doesn't do drugs with needles of any kind. also hopefully she doesn't do any drugs or has had sex with anyone who has done drugs. AIDS! that's enough to know about using a condom & i know girls who took the pill & got pregnant anyway. u can't be safe enough these days. good luck, nobrethequeen

It is hard to say depending on your girlfriends body. You may still want to be safe and use a condom. Unless you want to take a chance on having little feet running around!
However, I think you would be okay.

There is a 0.3% failure rate with the pill alone if used perfectly. That means 3 in 1000 women become pregnant in a given year of using the pill. Typical use has an 8% failure rate, though, with 8 out of 100 women becoming pregnant in a year.

My sister has gotten pregnant twice while on birth control pills and she took her pills faithfully as she never wanted to be a mother, so it definitely can happen ... though the chances are slim.
