Insulation and R-Value fomula?

Question

Im doing a science fair project in school and i need to know a simple but accurate formula for R-Value. How do I find it? Is it also possible to do the R-Value formula with the metric system(centimeters and grams) instead of inches and feet? I really need to know the R-Value formula and fast so please help me!

Formula for R-value in terms of what? As for accurate, it is by nature approximate.
