Hey everyone. I was wondering if anyone has personal experience with using tanning beds during pregnancy. I have been reading several different websites, and most of them seem to say that after the first trimester it should be ok as long as you stay hydrated. I'm 18 weeks pregnant and have just been feeling miserable lately. My face is breaking out and I look paler than I have in years. I think that a tan would make me feel a little better. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks!

You should not tan at any point during pregnancy. You should discuss this with your dr.

You baby's health is way more important than how you look.

By the way tanning will make your skin age faster so while you might look good now you will regret it later!

I haven't been tanning since I found out I was pregnant because I am afraid of how warm it gets in the booth and I wouldn't want that to harm the baby. I am just toughing it out for a few more weeks until I have the baby....I feel the same way as you, I feel so pale! But I know it will be worth it and in a little while I can go again.

Unfortunately, my doctor said it's not a good idea to use tanning beds while you are pregnant. I usually go tanning once a week but gave it up as soon as I found out I was pregnant. It is okay to do the mystic tan though. I did that once so far and it made me feel a little better :) Don't worry - it's winter now and almost everyone is pale, lol.

go exercise or something, I think that is horrible. Today I was actually thinking about what women would actually do that and chance that something could happen to their baby?! And here you are. I dont think it would be smart because I doubt there is enough studies to even know for sure what it could do.

Tanning is never good for you. You certainly shouldn't do it when pregnant.
