ont he topic of bio here. i mean so some things absorb certain kinds of light and reflect another color, but what happens to the light that isn't absorbed?

It's reflected. Only two things can happen: it's absorbed or reflected.
On a rough surface the reflection is known as "scattering."

Simple! It is reflected. There are only two choices; light can either be absorbed to some degree, or it can be reflected to some degree.
