See i am trying to upgrade my desktop, its a compaq. I used CPUZ, it told me i have 2 slots of 512 MB RAM, they are both Pc2-5300 333Mhz, then i went online to check newegg.com, i can only find Pc2-5300 667 Mhz, I couldnt find any 333Mhz ones.
Will i be able to use the 667 one? I am trying to take one 512 mb out, and put a 1G one in so i have 1.5 G.
Thanks a lot for help.

The correct PC2 5300 speed is 667mhz as newegg say (actually 5300:8=662.5) Go here and scan your computer to make sure.http://www.crucial.com/

CPUZ reads the actual clock, which is 333mHz. Since RAM is dual data rate, effective bandwidth is double, thus 667mHz.

You really have ddr2-667mHz or PC2-5300 on your PC. So go ahead and buy PC2-5300.

It will work fine, memory will run at a slower bus speed. 667mhz memory is fine and happy at 533mhz, however the opposite is NOT true, 533 may be able to run at 667 but probably not stable. Memory can always be safely and reliably run at slower speeds.

http://crucial.com/systemscanner/index.aspx it's free and will tell you if your mobo allows you to mix speeds, if you're using IE then it will scan, but if you're using Firefox you just need to download it (it takes like .25 seconds) and double click it and it will open the results with compatible RAM, if you see 667 mhz then yes its ok to buy

EDIT: I'm 100% sure it will work (my solution that is =) )
