I am 21 years old.. I just had a beautiful baby boy (now 9 weeks old!! =)). I have been out of high school since 2005 and I want to go back!! I have a history of starting something and never finishing it when it comes to school. I want to do something with my life and especially now that I have a son who will depend on me.

I want to go (possibly) to Ohio State University because I hear it's a great school and I will be moving from Boston to the Lima area this Christmas. Is it possible to be a great parent (There's a good chance I will be parenting him on my own for a while) while going to school and working??

I'm scared I'll start and think it's too hard and give up. But I don't want to do that! I want to get a degree in something and learn and be able to provide for my son. Can anyone share their experiences with this?? Is this even possible for someone to do while remaining sane lol??

Help!!

and thanks =)

I had a baby two weeks before my final year of college. I was 29. I imagine it would be harder now that my daughter is 14 months old, but I would still do it if I could. I was kind of the same way -starting a million things, loosing interest, etc...the best thing about school is that if you find a program you really love, then you will want to keep going. I ended up with two degrees in Art History and Religious Studies.

Honestly I don't get how people say its hard to be in school and have a child. I thought it was great and if I could do it again, I would be in school for a masters degree.
I think its much more fair to the child than working full time. Even at full time credits I was home about 75% more than I am now working full time.

Apply for financial aid at www.fafsa.gov and apply to the school. Then you will know how much you have to work, etc.

Being a mother is going to help you get more loans and grant money. Hopefully you will be approved for work study programs or even just a part time job.You can do it, and if you are careful with your money, you can almost live off the loans. I paid my bills three months at a time when I went to school.

I graduated in June and got a full time job...I make $20 an hour, so just getting any degree is going to help you make money, and it will also help you set an example for your son to make something of himself later on.

YES IT IS! It's not going to be easy, but nothing that is worth working for ever is easy. Just pace yourself don't try to do so much at once. Definitely take your GED exam, study as much as possible before it. Secondly, when your done with High School , they have plenty of scholarships and grants for single mothers and on line courses created just for you. So, there is a world of opportunity, just take advantage of it. Just know that the ball is always in your court. Also, what an inspiration this will be to your child, that they can do even better! Take care and hang in there.

It would definitely be difficult to juggle all of those things, but if you think you can handle it, you should go for it. Being educated will make it easier for you to get a job and support your son, and also, it will make you a great role model: your son will see that education is an important part of life, and that hard work is the best way to get the things you want.

Good luck. I really hope that things work out for you. :)

try going taking classes online. nowadays many degrees can be completed entirely online. that way there is no commitment to leaving ur baby with daycare and u dont have an actual schedule. i think that may be easier for u seeing as ur baby is still really young and needs ur full attention. i take classes online and love the convenience of being able to do my work at MY time, not a professor's time, and i love doing my work in my pajamas when its snowing out and laughing at the kids that have to drive to class in the snow

definite and as quickly because it truly is rebuilt it is going to likely be better than it changed into earlier. The reminiscence of having by undesirable circumstances will be a part of your shared historic past and produce you closer contained in the proper.

just keep in mind that you want to be the best mom you can be. Take care of your son and take care of yourself. Trying it is all you can do. You sound dedicated and I believe if you want something bad enough you can achieve it

Thounsands of people have attended OSU, remained sane, and graduated.

You need to find a "positive mental outlook" and work to keep it!!
