Yes. We are born with it. If we saw everything upside down we'd be all disoriented an bump into stuff. This right side up thing is so everyone doesn't have bruises all the time, because Mother Nature loves us.

You are correct. When the eyes 'see' an object, it's upside down, but when that gets to the brain for interpretation, the world is 'upright' ... this is one of the 'wonders' of the human brain. Even brand new babies' brains do this 'turning around' from the very first ... and I have not yet heard that any researchers or doctors KNOW EXACTLY WHY OR HOW it happens, they only know that it does happen. What is 'weird' to me is that even when a person has a brain tumor or bad concussion, they still 'see' things right way up, not upside down. How can that happen even in 'brain injured' people? It's a wonder, that is to be sure.

You actually don't know how you see. You've grown up knowing that if you move your hand to a place where your eyes tell you something is located, you can touch it. This is called visual adaptation.
If you wore prismatic inversion lenses, you would take a few days to get used to seeing things upside down. Suddenly it would all "click" into focus and you would be able to walk and manipulate things again. (That experiment was reported in Scientific American so long ago I can't remember when.)
On the other hand, my boss OFTEN sees things upside down and backwards. I'd like to think it was because HE's the oddball, but you never know...

No you got it backward. Our eyes turn the image right-side up. It's the world that's upside down!!!!

Maybe you ARE seeing everything upside down. Ever think of that? How would you know the difference?

pretty much. Nature and Nurtue. Little babies still haven't got the hang of it sometimes. And some adults still get Left and Right mixed up!
