I got up at 6 this morning but that's like 5 where I live! Who's idea was this anyway, starting everything an hour earlier than the rest of the known world?

There are many time zones.. I live in New England and we may wake up an hour earlier but we go to bed an hour earlier.. Theres no difference just the sun.. You really don't know what your talking about.. If you've heard the song 'Its five o'clock somewhere' you'd realize the many different time zones and its because we are a sphere and the sun doesn't reach every place at once

On my side, I wake far too early going by the Eastern time zone. I say we abolish it completely so I can sleep till a decent hour.

EDIT:
Dang, some folks have no sense of humor. They should do what I do, start drinking heavy.

LOL dude I start work when it is 11PM there, and then finish at some crazy time in the morning,

what is even more whack is that the freakin sun is in the freakin sky all night!!!

WTH!

I think we need to stop this whole earth rotation thing so that everyone can be on the same level.

ROFLMAO...some people just have NO sense of humor.

Here's a real one for ya...when I came home on a cruise from across the pond, we gained an hour each night, so literally we had 25 hours each day! It was like an extra party hour each day for 5 days!!!

you can thank william willett for DST. i live in central time and daylight savings DOES mess with my sleep and daily life for about a week or two after it starts. it's a stupid old idea used to help outdoor activities like sports and farming. i wish i lived in one of the states that doesn't do daylight savings time. after you spend months of going to bed and getting up at the same time your biological alarm clock is set and then disrupting it and taking up or down an hour totally messes with things. screw DST.

guess what? we are the eastern time zone still have 24 hours in a day....that's right...figure it out! we aren't missing any time what so ever....the only time we lose an hour of sleep (like everyone else) is when we turn the clocks ahead one hour in the spring!

You're either very dumb, or very slow. I'm from Ireland, which is five hours ahead of the US eastern time zone..so does that mean the Irish have five hours less in a day? Course not. Does that mean the Irish are missing out on five hours of sleep? Course not. And I do hope you realize, that as I said..Ireland..five hours ahead, people in Iraq about 8 hours ahead. Guess what...Aussies are pretty much a full day ahead of Americans. Bloody idiot.

And ChickEMT. I'm not a guy. I'm female. Clearly you can't read the word "Siobhan".

I'd like to answer your question but I got sidetracked trying to yank the stick apparently stuck up some answerers' butts, as a public service of course.
