And how long should I stay for? I'm going on holiday with my boyfriend in 2008. We want to do the theme parks and see the sights. So probably not during school holidays.

The weather is fabulous year round so as far as weather you might prefer winter to summer as the theme parks can get SO hot Dec Jan waiting in line and watching shows cement arenas. So Autumn, Winter and Spring are fabulous.

As said already avoid school holidays (Queensland, New South Wales and Victorian) if you want to get the most out of your visit. Other times to avoid are Indy (October - I think) and Schoolies (most of November).

Definitely go mid week to the theme parks if possible. So probably Feb/March, May/Early June/ Late July and August are your best ideas.

As far as what to do. The theme parks are all great. My pick is Dreamworld because I love rides, my fiance loves Movieworld cause he is into movies and people who like the animal side would prefer Seaworld but they are all great. Expensive of course but good.

We always spend a day at Cavill Mall - bit of a walk on the beach, check out the shops, play a few games at the timezone at the top of the shopping centre, have a look at Ripley's Believe it or not, Eat in the million places on the mall. Also there is a great all you can eat Pancake Place very close to it that we love although it makes us fairly full.

Jupiters Casino is great the shows are always worth seeing and Pacific Fair is a great shopping centre.

This is all sounding very expensive and it is.

Down the southern end (Coolangatta) is somewhat cheaper and fairly relaxed. The currumbin Bird Sanctuary is worth a look down toward that area too.

Have fun.

All year around is good for the GoldCoast as we are semi tropical , you can still swim in the sea in winter but of course a little colder. The water temperature in winter goes to about 19 and summer about 23. It is better to avoid school holidays as prices seem to jump a little in accommodation. and avoid schoolies so that is for a couple of weeks starting 2nd or 3rd week in November. Its also very busy at the time of The Indy car races I think that's about October.Everyday the theme parks are busy but particular so in school holidays. Our winters are beautiful warm sunny days and cool nights. Summer can get very hot but the hotels would be air conditioned. So choose a time to suit yourselves and you will love it

The driest month is September (median rainfall 20.5mm)while the wettest is March (median rainfall 153mm). The driest period is July to October. For warm, dry weather go in August, September or October with October being the warmest of the three. You can have a good time at any time of year but if you are going in summer or autumn, take an umbrella - it's the wet season.

Now till Nov. Try not to travel around October which has Indy, car racing and pretty much noisy in Suerfers Paradise. Schoolie in 22 Nov - 14 Dec.
