I was thinking of buying a Macbook Pro for Christmas, however, I want to buy it once they release an updated version of it, not buy it as it is approaching the end of its cycle. Might Apple have a new / updated Macbook Pro out for the Holidays or probably not before then?

Yes - They will most likely come out with a "newer" and "better" one around January but I would not let that stop you from buying one now. During the holidays, Apple will have some good deals if you buy a MacBook. Sometimes it is something as small as a free case to a free nano. Of course, everything promotional like that is handled through rebate, but Apple seems to issue those pretty quick. As for the MacBook being out of date: Apple will always release the software updates to all of the MacBook users and they are notorious for doing so.

i am sure they will be coming out with a refresh to the notebook line, but that will not be until macworld in jauary or later. If you get m mbp between now and christmas they are great machines, but if you can wait till january i suggest you do.

under no circumstances seen that happen on the Apple web site or apple shops, no longer even on black friday. in actuality the sole merchandising I even have seen apple do is the back to college revenues with the unfastened ipod rebate.
