Contact a woman's shelter and inquire as to what you could do to help. Very often victims of domestic abuse with their children find shelter there and have a great many needs.
Alternatively contact and senior citizens home and see if there is something you could do to help. There are many elderly folk who have not one visitor, not even on Christmas day. Imagine the joy they would have of just a simple visit from someone who cared.
My Compliments and God Bless You.

This is a very lonely time of the year for those who are in nursing homes or even low income senior apartments. People always think about the children but these seniors are thrilled by small presents such as slippers, nice smelling lotions, chocolates, warm blankets or throws, big print books or magazines, home made cookies etc. They often are isolated and lonely and may have no family visiting them. Many times their friends cant drive anymore or have passed away so they sit alone during the Christmas season.

me and my family work at a soup kitchen on Christmas day and we go to a charity group and find a family that can not have a Christmas dew to financial problems so we give them a Christmas dinner and a Christmas tree and the kids gifts and the best part is that we know we have all we need and instead of getting each other things we don't need we see the glow of the family that gets a good , happy ,merry Christmas and that is so much better than anything you could buy ....merry Christmas and it is nice to see people like you are out there God bless you and your family..

Help people decorate if you have talent in that area. Help cook. Do not burn things. Go over to homeless shelters and donate necessities and good toys to the kids. Also e-mail oohay.mocker@yahoo.com for a chat. She's bored. Bonus points if you're good at chemistry.

You could offer to help out at a soup kitchen; you could bring some food and toys to a women's shelter; you could donate money to a food bank or a local Salvation Army.

Get involved with a Church. They have many ways of helping the community. There's plays, parades, feeding the needy...
Also check with your towns web site, they generally list ways for one to help during the season, and off.
