When ever I try opening internet explorer on my computer, it automatically closes after a couple seconds. I can run internet explorer if I run it without add-ons but then I can't watch videos or play games.

Probably a security setting. If IE runs without add-ons but it dies with them, the problem is clearly the add-ons.
For WinXP and service pack 2, it is often necessary to use only digitally signed add-ons depending on your security settings. That would be one thing that would zap you right there.

if ur using an older version such as the one that comes with WinXP download Explorer 7, if your using a wireless connection with a router turn off your router and then turn is back on and your net should be running fine.
