Darth Vader actually was a liberal. He made the mistake of allowing the conservative emperor to run the empire unchecked and the majority suffered while only a few priviledged individuals prospered. When he finally woke up, he realized he had been nothing but a yes man all his life and took action to get rid of his crazy boss.
