In the US...

There is such a thing as the Master of Arts in Legal Studies which isn't a practitioner law degree but instead studies law as an academic field. This would require a bachelor's degree in any field.

The LLM (Master of Laws or Master of Legal Letters) is an advanced law degree that usually requires a JD for entry.

The JD is the practitioner degree for attorneys and you can enter law school with any major provided you learned reasoning skills sufficient to pass the LSAT.

There is no master's degree in law unless you've been to law school outside the country. If you're not a lawyer from outside the country, then you will go to law school to pursue a JD. Major doesn't matter, however history, English or political science seem to be the most popular and useful. The most important things are high GPA and LSAT score.
