my fridge shakes when it goes off from the compressor cycle. it is about ten years old. it always kept my food cold and the freezer works great.

its not shaking its cold its shivering sorry couldnt resist check compressor hold down bolts make sure all foor feet are on the floor or worst case motor mounts inside the can (hermetic compressor) in that case put up with it or get a new one

The compressor should be mounted on some sort of shock absorber, a rubber pad or something. Perhaps one of the mounting bolts has vibrated loose.

I'd agree with Chuck....one or more of the compressor mounting bolts is probably loose or the bracket that it mounts to. Retighten or replace them.
