Not only doctors. Lawyers, engineers, architects, just about anything can be called a practice. Kinda scary.

They don't actually call it a practice because they're practicing- owning a practice also means to work in medicine (or law).

Not really...I know they make mistakes and they literally are "practicing" on us, but medicine is a complex science that is always changing. And really, how else are they supposed to learn?
