We are both 31 and this will be our first Christmas. I'm not ready to get anything too expensive just yet maybe in the years to come. Any suggestions?

We have been together for about 8 or 9 months and we do practically live together.

If it were me, just having my girlfriend there for Christmas would be present enough. ^_^
However, to answer your question more completely. . . .
um, I'd say a sweater or something. Nothing says love like something you bought to keep someone warm, and every time he wears it, he can think of your first Christmas. ( Or so I would hope) Unless of course you live in a place with no SNOW, in which case. . . just get him something meaningful.
If need be, see if you can get his friends or family to find out what he might like, and then have them tell you.

Well you don't say how long you have been together or if you live together that makes the difference too. More information please....
