there are blank maps with the outlines of states on the internet. make a printout ... and have someone test you by saying a state... and you have to point to it. use a full map with the names in it as a cheat sheet.

Make a copy of a map. White out all the names of the states, and then make more copies. Start filling in the names of the states. Eventually, you'll remember where they are.

Here's a trick:
The baker
Minnesota is the hat
Iowa is the head
Missouri is the shirt
Arkansas is the pants
Louisiana is the boot
Tennesee is the tray of food
Kentucky is the food on top of the tray

or you could say that Kentucky is the pile of Kentucky Fried Chicken on top of the tray

first of all u should study.go to this website below http://maps.hist-geo.com/USA/Outline-50/ Then print a couple of copies i would think no more than 15. Then go to this website below http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Map_of_USA_with_state_names.svg And print out 1 sheet on that site to use as a check sheet. test yourself with a friend, tell your friend to use the check sheet to name a state. when he says the state name you write it down were you think it would go. once you got all 50 states use the check sheet to see how much u got wrong......GOOD LUCK!!!!!

The best way is to use a map and DRAW your map a number of times (and label). By doing it yourself over and over, you will remember. I would divide the continental US into western, middle, southern and eastern (above Virginia) into sections so it's not one big "blob."
